The Rock of Ages Fiction Fantasy Film Fest Nomination Get Shorty Award Sitges International Film Festival Official Selection Reykjavik International Film Festival Official Selection The distant past. A soldier of uncertain provenance (from which army? in which era?) stumbles through a vast, desolate landscape, attempting to outrun the evil he’s done. Fearing judgment in the afterlife, he yearns for immortality – and stumbles upon a talking rock who promises him exactly that. But as always with these bargains, there’s a catch… No budget, but so much ambition. Director Eron Sheean is a man of conviction and endless creativity. Creating almost all practical and special effects himself, it was definitely a labor of love and therefore hard to kill some necessary darlings. But as in the story of the soldier, the road to the top is hard, yet rewarding. “A surreal fable told with wit, intelligence and a huge stony puppet. Sheean’s film is so distinct it feels almost unrivalled in the world of short film.” Rob Munday – Short of the week “The Rock of Ages creates a vivid fantasy world in just over 15 minutes— this tale from writer-director Eron Sheean makes great use of its natural setting blended with clever puppetry and a pair of excellent performances.” Cheryl Eddy – Gizmodo Directed and written by Eron Sheean With Tómas Lemarquis, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson Cinematography by Tómas Örn Tómasson Music by Todd Dahlhoff, Leslie Feist & Shahzad Isma Sound design by Nicolas Liebing Special effects and make-up by Stephan Voss & Ásta Ólafsdóttir Puppeteer Izabela Claudia Mos Edited by Tim Roza, Julia Danel Produced by Hlin Johannesdottir, Eron Sheean, Black Tool Studios, Xavier Gens Release date 2021
