About

Director Barbara Visser and I trying to solve the puzzle.

From an early age I fell in love with film. Memories of hiding behind my parents’ couch to watch Spielberg’s Jaws, memorizing the annual videostore catalogue by heart, and closets filled with VHS-tapes recorded by my mom –because the best films were of course broadcasted way past bedtime.

After finishing high school in 2001, I was selected for the filmmaking bachelor at the Art Academy St. Joost in Breda. My graduation film ‘Counting Down’ –a combination of documentary, fiction and animation– was chosen as one of the 10 best graduation films at the Dutch Film Festival in 2005.

Fresh out of art academy my love for editing grew and in 2008 I decided to focus on editing completely. Everything seemed to come together perfectly in the cutting room. The chance to work closely together with directors, the challenge to create a narrative and the possibility to combine fiction, documentary, animation or whatever else works.
To me, shaping that whirlwind of emotion, images and story feels like solving an impossible puzzle. When it works of course, otherwise we just crtl+z and try again.
