S10 – May things continue to go well

Festival Logo

Artist Stien den Hollander, stage name S10, offers a candid and vulnerable insight into her life. As an adolescent Stien struggled with mental problems and as her fame continues to grow, the past begins to eat away at her more and more. In addition to this, the pressure from the media and the public mounts day by day.
Directors Linda Hakeboom and Rolf Hartogensis followed her life for two years. What is it like to always be asked about dark pages from your past? Do we sometimes put too much pressure on famous people to talk about their pain?

This is already the sixth project Rolf, Linda and I did together and with every project they become better and think bigger. But even though the productions grow, the intimacy and personal connection stays as authentic as with the first.
Of course this is also why their films are able to give such an intimate look at the people they are portraying. Rolf and Linda are able to gaze into someone’s soul, but also open themselves up the same time. It always feel like a privilege to gaze along with them.

Other music documentaries we worked on are ‘Whatever Forever’, ‘WTF is Jett Rebel’, ‘#DJ’.

"A charged and stylized portrait. It shows clearly the bruises and cuts she tries to heal with her music."

Helmut Boeijen - De DocUpdate

"Hakeboom time and again proves that she is able to gather the trust of the subject and softly lay them bare. This portrait in a way is the jewel in her crown: this is the most intimate and personal portrayal yet. Even more impressive: she is able to do it, without pushing it too far."

Stefan Raatgever - Het Parool

"It is astounding how S10 allowed them in, how close they were able to come and how they were able to make such a beautiful film with such a small team."
